Esther "Sr. Mary Aloysius SMSM"  Reid
Of Waltham, entered eternal rest & peace in the loving arms of her God on Friday Sept. 8, 2017 in the Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley at the age of 98.

Sister Esther was born on December 24, 1918 in Jamaica, B.W.I.

Sister Esther entered the Marist Missionary Sisters in Bedford, Massachusetts on July 31, 1948 and made her 1st Profession on February 1, 1951 in Bedford.

After Profession, Sister was assigned to remain in Bedford in charge of the Sewing Department and helping in the kitchen. Her new mission would be Staten Island, N.Y. from 1953-1956.

In August of 1956, she received her first overseas assignment to Hawaii, where she worked until 1964.

Sister Esther was sent to her home Island of Jamaica in 1964, where she worked for many years until 1999 in Pastoral Ministry. Sister received the Papal Award for long and significant service to the Church in Jamaica in 1998.

Sister Esther returned to the USA in 1999, and was assigned to the Belmont community for service until 2004 when she moved to Waltham and our “62” Newton Street community.

Sister was missioned once again, this time to Marillac Assisted Living in Wellesley, MA. in 2005.

Sister is survived by her dear sister in-law, Josephine Reid of Devon, England and two cherished nephews, Peter Wright of Fort Atkinson, WI, and Richard Melville of Auckland, New Zealand. In addition Sister is survived by her devoted & loving community of Marist Missionary Sisters.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of the Resurrection in celebration of Sister Esther's Life at the Marist Missionary Sisters Convent, 62 Newton St, Waltham on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Marist Missionary Sisters Lot at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Watertown. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the Funeral Mass in The Marist Sisters Convent on Thursday morning beginning at 8:30 am with the Rosary and sharing of her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the: Marist Missionary Sisters 349 Grove St., Waltham, MA 02453.

The Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels of WALTHAM will be assisting the Marist Missionary Sisters with Funeral Services.
