John "Jack" Thomas Loynd, Sr.
Of North Waterboro, Maine formerly of Waltham, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning March 25th, 2017 in his home at the age of 93.
Born on January 5, 1924 in Waltham; son of the late Herbert Loynd and Mildred (Sherman) Loynd, Jack lived his entire life in Waltham and had moved to Maine in these past few years to be cared for by his loving daughter.
A graduate of Saint Mary's High School in Waltham, John had been employed as Chief of Inspection for the Department of Public Safety in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 37 years until his retirement in 1980.
He proudly served with the United States Army Air corps during WWII and the Air Force during the Korean War.
Jack for years had been teaching Machine Shorthand for Court Reporters in Boston and MassBay Community College. He was a member of the National Court Reporters Association.
His life revolved around his family, he enjoyed every minute spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to go Ballroom Dancing with his late wife Peggy and had a passion for sports following all of the Boston sports teams.
Beloved husband of the late Margaret "Peggy" (McGlone) Loynd.
Jack is survived by his loving & devoted children Mary Toole and her husband Dewayne of Memphis, TN, John T. Loynd Jr. and his wife Elizabeth (Centola) Loynd of Conway, NH, Peggyann Loynd-Mahnken and her husband Dana of North Waterboro, ME, Joseph P. Loynd and his wife Lisa (LeDuke) Loynd of Maynard, Alicia Edwards and her husband Marcus of Memphis, TN, and James A. Loynd and his wife Kelly (Graves) Loynd of Erving, MA. In addition he is survived by 19grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of John’s Life from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Saturday morning April 1st at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Mary's Church 145 School Street, Waltham at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow with United States Air Force Military Honors at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home on Friday March 31st from 4 - 8 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.
