Of Waltham passed away peacefully Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 102.
Catherine, known to her friends and family as “Kay”, was born June 7, 1913 in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Waltham, Massachusetts. She was a graduate of Waltham High School and the Wilfred Academy of Hairdressing. She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Graceffa, the mother of the late Alfio B. Graceffa, and the sister of the late Tony Parello and Josephine Caminiti.
Kay was an accomplished musician who both sang and played the piano. Her favorite words, “Keep smiling”, came from a song that she and her husband would often sing together. It was Kay's love for music which inspired her son to become a professional musician and music teacher. She was also an avid billiards player and could often be found challenging friends and family to a game of pool at her home in Bourne, Massachusetts. Kay’s last years were spent at Meadow Green Nursing Home, enjoying time with her sister who also lived there and who recently passed away.
Kay now rests at peace with her beloved husband and son and is survived by her three grandchildren: Stephen Graceffa of Rhode Island, David Graceffa of NH and Lisa Scherber of North Reading; her three great-grandchildren, Matthew Scherber, Caroline Scherber and Natalie Graceffa and her niece Donna Postizzi of Waltham and her nephew, Jim Caminiti of Newton.
