Of Watertown, passed away peacefully Sunday evening April 17th, 2016 with his beloved wife near his side in their home at the age of 73.
Born on May 7, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire; son of the late Peter Proulx and Yvonne (Vallerand) Proulx, Roger was raised and educated in Waltham before moving to Watertown 42 years ago. For many years Roger and his wife would take two weeks together to spend time at their favorite place in Ogunquit, Maine.
Roger was employed as a Pest Control Inspector & Technician with Waltham Services Inc. for over 35 years.
He had a passion for woodworking and working with his hands; often making toys for children in the hospital, for birthdays and other special occasions. He enjoyed all types of artwork, playing golf, traveling, and cooking.
Roger was a simple person who enjoyed the very simple things in life. People were drawn to him for his calming nature and his ability to genuinely listen to people’s concerns. Often you would find Roger reading and socializing at his favorite hangout; the Starbuck’s on Mount Auburn Street in Watertown Square, but Roger found the greatest enjoyment in his life spending time with his wife.
He is survived by his devoted & loving wife of 43 years Katherine Ann “Kathy” (Sarro) Proulx, his dear sister Jeanne Proulx of Chicago, IL, his cherished godchildren Christine Ann Barron of Westminster, Victoria “Vicki” Corpian of Marlborough, David Proulx of Ohio, and his adoring nieces & nephews, Steve and Laura Mozie, David Lundy, Peter Shutt and Jeff Proulx.
Dear brother of the late Denise Lundy, Getty Shutt and Maurice “Jim” Proulx and uncle of the late Paul Lundy, Johnny Mozie, Jimmy and Michael Shutt.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Roger’s Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, on Sunday afternoon May 1st at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
