Obituary for Joseph Jacob "Jay" Hauck Jr.

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning November 10th, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge at the age of 64.

Born on February 18, 1951 in Newton, MA; son of the late Joseph Jacob Hauck and Glenna (Keirstead) Hauck, beloved son-in-law of the late Juliette LeBlanc,
Joe was raised in Amherst, New Hampshire and has been a Waltham resident since 1968.

A graduate of Waltham Vocational High School with the Class of 1970, Joe was employed as a Machinist throughout his life. He owned and operated with his partner “Newton Auto Radiator” an automotive shop in Waltham for over 30 years. After closing his shop he worked as a Machinist for Thermo Fisher in Wilmington.

Joe had a love of nature and the outdoors, he had a passion for fishing, camping and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time as well as photography.

He is survived by his devoted & loving daughters Susan Johnson, her husband Dean, and grandson Paul-Joseph of Hudson , NH and Melissa Hauck and her spouse Jim Higgins of Waltham, his cherished grandchildren Alyssa, Jacob and Julia, Jacqueline and her son Joseph, his adoring great grandchildren Ariella and Aminah, his dear sisters Glenna Boland of Westwood and Janet Collins of Georgia, and predeceased by brothers Linton and Charles Rooney. In addition he is survived by his former wife Linda, several nieces & nephews, cousins, his extended family and many close friends.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Joseph’s Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Tuesday Nov. 17th at 7:00 p.m. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the Funeral Service on Tuesday evening from 5 – 7 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joe’s name to the American Lung Association, 1661 Worcester Rd #301, Framingham, MA 01701.
