Obituary for Russell Leo Hachey

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Saturday evening October 24th, 2015 at Epoch of Weston at the age of 86. Born in Gloucester, Massachusetts on November 20, 1928 to his beloved parents Leo Hachey and Florida (Godin) Blanchard.

Russell was a lifetime resident of Waltham.

He was a loving brother of Emily Haigh, and Beverly Blanchard, and the late Rita Hicks.

Russell was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Josephine (Leone) Hachey and his son David Hachey. He is survived by his 4 children Paula Hachey, of Waltham, Kenneth Hachey of Manchester, NH and his companion Laura Leary, Russell Hachey Jr. and his wife Theresa of Waltham, Carol Siegel and her husband Robert of Upton. In addition 11 grandchildren, Melody Hachey, David Hachey Jr., Kourtney Crème, Kendall Alaimo, Nicholas & Jordan Sutherland, Brittany & Vanessa Hachey, Olivia, Brett and Ava Siegel. Also, 1 great-grandchild, Rory Crème. Russell also leaves many cherished nephews and nieces.

Russell enjoyed weekly outings to dance with his wife, and prided himself with keeping physically fit by long, vigorous walks. He was an avid fisherman and shared this love with all of his children and grandchildren. In addition, he enjoyed cooking wonderful meals for his family.

Russell was a proud, decorated United States of America Navy Veteran during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on August 15th 1955 as a Hospital Corpsman, First Class Petty Officer. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Navy Occupation Medal, and the European Clasp Good Conduct Medal (2 awards).

He was stationed upon the USS Mississippi as well as the USS Pittsburgh.

He owned and operated R.L. Hachey Co. in Waltham.

By his request, there will be no public services.
