Of Brooksby Village in Peabody formerly of Waltham, passed away peacefully Sunday evening June 21st, 2015 surrounded by her loving family in Brooksby Village after a long illness at the age of 93.

Born on December 31, 1921 in Boston; daughter of the late Filippo Vaglica and Rose (Vitrano) Vaglica, Virginia raised her family and resided in Waltham for most of her life until moving to Brooksby Village in Peabody 14 years ago.

A graduate of Waltham High School, Virginia was a devoted and loving homemaker to her family throughout her life. Family was the most important aspect of her life. She was a Little League Team Mother for her Boys, a Girl Scout Leader, and a member of the Parent Teacher Association at the Northeast Elementary School. For many years she volunteered at the former Waltham Hospital.

Virginia led a very active life in her later years as part of the community at Brooksby Village in Peabody. She was a member of the “Welcoming Team” and a longtime leader of the “Busy Fingers”, a group that knitted to meet the needs of single mothers in the North Shore area. In her spare time she loved to socialize, go dancing and knit.

Beloved wife for 40 years to the late Salvatore J. Rando.

She is survived by her devoted & loving sons Richard Anthony Rando and his wife Anne of Bolivia, NC., Ronald John Rando and his wife Audrey of Nashua, NH., John Joseph Rando and his wife Judith “Judy” of New Castle, NH, and Paul Philip Rando of Amherst, NH, and her dear sister Connie Pitoniak of Waltham. In addition she is survived by 11 cherished grandchildren, 10 adoring great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

Loving mother-in-law of the late Diana Rando and Cassandra Rando, sister of the late Mary, Anna, Frances, Frank, Joseph, Janet, Sam, John and Anthony.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Thursday morning June 25th at 10:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Virginia’s Life at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Vi
siting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday June 24th from 3 – 7 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to Care Dimensions Hospice, 75 Sylvan Street Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or the Brooksby Village Benevolent Fund, 100 Brooksby Village Dr, Peabody, MA 01960.
