Of Waltham, passed away, Thursday morning, February 26, 2015 at the Maristhill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Waltham. She was 83.
Born in East La Have, Nova Scotia, Canada, September 20, 1931 to the late Capt. Atwood Maxwell and Ethel (Conrad) Parks, Margaret moved to Waltham over 60 years ago.
Margaret received her Registered Nurse Degree from the Children's Hospital of Halifax in 1952, where she also worked for some time. She also worked at the Waltham Hospital for a period of time.
Mrs. Corkum was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Arlington for many years and taught Sunday School there.
Margaret adored the company of her dog Teddy. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Calvin J. Corkum of Waltham, her devoted children Susan Johnson and her husband Glen of Townsend, Jim Corkum of Waltham, Deborah Corkum and her husband Shawn Higgins of Billerica, and Karen Corkum McCue and her husband Scott McCue of Manchester, NH, her brother Robert Parks and his wife Joanne of Nova Scotia, and her cherished grandchildren Michelle, Steven, Taylor, and Elizabeth. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Maxwell, Keith, and Lowell Parks.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend A Funeral Service in celebration of Margaret's life at the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10 - 11 a.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
