Obituary for Mary E. Murray

Mary E. Murray
Of South Yarmouth, passed away Thursday evening November 20th, 2014 at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis at the age of 74.

Born on May 28, 1940 in Newton; daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Murphy) Sampson, Mary was raised and lived most of her life in Waltham before moving to Needham for several years and then to South Yarmouth 16 years ago.

A graduate of Waltham High School, Mary worked as Bookkeeper for the Waltham News Tribune for over 10 years, as a Receptionist at the Home Suites Inn on Totten Pond Road in Waltham for several years and at the Raytheon Corporation.

She was an active, devoted and faithful parishioner of the Saint Pius X Parish Community in South Yarmouth and had been a longtime member of the Women’s Auxiliary and the Red Hat Club now known as the lunch bunch. She loved to bake and cook for all the church events and regularly for bingo, and collect jewelry for the booth she ran at the annual church fair. She would go to bed every night holding her precious Rosary Beads.

Mary was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother throughout her life. She loved spending time with family and friends and in her spare time she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading and watching movies.

Beloved wife for 19 years to the late John “Jack” G. Murray.

She is survived by her loving daughters Cheryl Fussell and her partner Bobbi Harris, of Waltham, Helen Gormley and her husband Tom of Sudbury, and Christine Fussell and her husband Michael Petrasko of Marston Mills, her adored grandchildren Jennifer Devane, Dianna Gormley, Stephanie Fussell, Julicia Robles and Theresa Furchak, and her dear siblings Helen Lundberg of Waltham and Richard Sampson of Connecticut. She was step mother to John Murray and his wife Susan of Needham and Ken Murray and his wife Janice of New Hampshire. She was a loving step grandmother to Danielle, Jessica and Samantha Murray and Jack, Brian, Nick and Angela Murray. In addition she is survived by many nieces & nephews.

Devoted mother of the late Donald Fussell, cherished grandmother of the late Shayla Fussell and sister of the late Claire Kadlick, Cynthia Dale, Michael and Wayne Sampson.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Mary’s Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Tuesday Nov. 25th morning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery.
