Of Waltham, passed away Wednesday evening October 29th, 2014 with beloved family by her side at Newton – Wellesley Hospital after a long illness at the age of 71.

Born on May 5, 1943 in Waltham; daughter of the late William P. Burns and Louise F. (Leach) Burns, Karen was a lifelong resident of Waltham.

Karen attended Waltham Schools and had worked for a period of time at Brandeis University in the Cafeteria.

She was a bingo fanatic who enjoyed playing cards and doing puzzles.

Wife of the late Charles J. Kimball Jr.

She is survived by her children John Kimball, Sharon Coye and Kimberly Kimball all of Waltham, and Erica Lee Thackery of Melrose, her sister MaryCarol Regan and Barry F. Burns both of Waltham. In addition she is survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews & cousins.

Cherished grandmother of the late Karen Louise Kimball and sister of the late Dorothy Buckley, William and Gordon Burns.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Monday morning Nov. 3rd at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Karen’s Life at Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Sunday Nov. 2nd from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Karen’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
