Of Belmont, passed away late Monday evening September 1st, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at Epoch of Chestnut Hill in Brookline after a long illness at the age of 93.
Born on May 28, 1921 in Hazelton, Pennsylvania; daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (Bove) Jordan, Mary was raised in Pennsylvania and moved to South Boston as a young woman before moving to Belmont 60 years ago.
Mary was employed in Central Service Supplies at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge for many years.
Her family was the central focus of her life especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved being surrounded by her family cooking and entertaining. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years Aldo J. Cura, her loving & devoted children Joseph Cura and his wife Marie of Nashua, NH, Judith Schwab and her husband Charles of Belmont and Christine Cura of Belmont, her cherished grandchildren Richard Jr., Lisa, Anthony, Jimmy, Gina and Laura, great grandchildren Richard J. “R.J.”, Rachel, Domenic, James, Jackson, Tucker and Nicholas, and her dear sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mary Cura, Frank Cura and Angelina Cura all of Arlington and Dr. Adolph Cura of Waltham. In addition she is survived by many nieces & nephews.
Beloved mother of the late Richard Cura and grandmother of the late Ian Cura.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels, 325 Trapelo Road, BELMONT on Friday morning Sept. 5th at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Mary’s Life at Sacred Heart Church, 573 Mount Auburn Street, Watertown at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Watertown. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Thursday Sept. 4th from 4 – 8 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking attendants.
