Of Newton, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning August 9th, 2014 surrounded by his loving family in Newton – Wellesley Hospital at the age of 87.
Born on January 5, 1927 in Arce, Italy; son of the late Giuseppe and Giuseppina (Marzilli) Pescosolido, Romolo came to the United States as a young man in 1952 and lived the rest of his life in Newton. He spent many summers in Falmouth and the winters in Naples, Florida.
An independent, self-taught and hardworking man, he was devoted to making a better life for his family. His family was the most important aspect of his life, especially his grandchildren.
Romolo was employed as a Engineer for ITEK Corporation and was proud to have fabricated the lens for the camera that NASA used to take the first picture of Earth and Mars.
Investing in the stock market and real estate was a passion he enjoyed his entire life. He was a avid Boston Red Sox Fan. He loved watching Jeopardy and Wheel Of Fortune, and every year he enjoyed a deep sea fishing trip with his sons.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Genoveffa “Genove" (Proia) Pescosolido, his devoted sons Philip Pescosolido and his wife Janet of Newton and Frank Pescosolido and his wife Sandra Mastroianni-Pescosolido of Newton, his loving grandchildren Robert and his wife Ainslie, Jarrod and his wife Sofia, Sabrina and her fiancé Mark, Keith, Samantha and her fiancé Joshua, Savanna and her boyfriend Paul, and Jamie, his cherished great granddaughters Brinley, Taylin and Camilla, his sister Linda Proia of Italy, his niece & nephew Tracy and David DiMambro and great nephew Nico who was also like a grandson of Burlington, and his cousins Mary and David Dunn of Lexington, Sandy Proia of Newton, and Maria Marzilli of R.I. In addition he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He is predeceased by his brothers Mario, Angelo and Guido Pescosolido.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Wednesday morning Aug. 13th at 10:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Romolo’s Life at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, Newton at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday Aug. 12th from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking attendants.
