Obituary for David Joseph Moores Sr.

David Joseph Moores, Sr (69) of Waltham Massachusetts passed away peacefully on August 14, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He spent his last days surrounded by his children and ex-wife and would have it no other way.

David was born December 20, 1953, in Boston MA. Raised in Waltham, 1 of 7 children.

David was a small engine mechanic since 1986, leaving his last days in the field at Pro-Equipment of Waltham MA when he retired in 2007.

David enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren for every family event. Mom and Dad may have been divorced for over 35 years, but together they made sure that the holidays were spent as a family and worked together to make it happen. He enjoyed traveling to New Jersey to enjoy celebrations with his son David and his family. Spent time with his son Joe on different adventures throughout the years. Taking trips with his daughter Kathy to New Hampshire to shop and going to lunch. Traveling to Georgia to visit his daughter Karen and her family twice a year. Spending time with his son Tom riding his motorcycle and taking adventures where ever dad wanted to go, his right-hand man!

Everyone who met him called him Santa. When he laughed, it came straight from the belly! More than anything, he loved his family, and his presence will be gravely missed.

David was predeceased by his dad Osgood Moores (Waltham MA), his mother Mary Moores (Delaney) (Waltham MA), his brother Kenneth Moores (Waltham MA), his brother Kevin Moores (Waltham MA), and his sisters Pamela Presseau (Moores) (St Louis MO), and Diane Moores of (Waltham, MA.)

He is survived by his sister Linda Moores (Waltham MA), brother Gary Moores (Waltham MA), ex-wife Susan Moores (Waltham), son David Moores Jr & wife Noemi (Toms River NJ), son Joseph Moores (Westborough MA), daughter Kathleen Cardona (Waltham MA), daughter Karen Mowery-Davis & husband Terrance (Rockmart GA) and Thomas Moores & fiancé Jessica Lavalley (Waltham MA). David’s legacy leaves behind 22 grandchildren: David III, Danielle, Michael, Madison, Melanie, Samantha, Anthony, Matthew, Tiffanie, Gina, Jonathan, Joshuah, Dylan, Olivia, Laela, Miles, Makayla, Tommy, Kaylee, Dominic, Noah, and Elise. Also leaving behind 13 great-grandchildren: Ellisandra, Jalianna, Devon, Savannah, Royce, Myah, Lily, Rylan, Giovanni, Landon, Tyson, Gwendolyn, and Scarlett. Lastly, Morgan, his military macaw that he has raised for 20 years. Grampy’s favorite phrase was ‘I hate kids,’ yet he loved and was proud of every single one of us!

All services will be held privately and the family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and for respecting their intimate celebration of David’s life.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to pay their respects and share memories of our father on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 74 Hardy Pond Rd. from 2:30 pm – 7:30 pm.
