Obituary for Edward F. Getman

Of Waltham, formerly of Newton, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 79.

Born and raised in Waltham by the late Francis E. Getman and Rose (Smith) Getman; he resided in Newton for over 50 years until he moved back to Waltham less than a year ago.

For almost 50 years Ed worked at his passion, collecting, treasure hunting in one form or another, and buying and selling antiques. He specialized in antique clocks and became quite proficient in their restoration.

His other interests included music, bike riding, working out at the gym at least 3 times a week and more recently playing the guitar. He was a sun worshiper and enjoyed basking on his deck and taking advantage of the views and all that nature had to offer there.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryll (Lechtenberg) Getman and his children, Mary Getman Netto, Kathy Kalesti, Ann Getman, Elaine Stern, Irene Getman, Edward Getman, Shad Nathan and Dana Getman, his grandchildren, Genevieve and Sophie McLeod, Marcus and Annick Kalesti and Jazmine Nathan, his brother John Getman and his sister Irene Medaglia.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Edward's life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, on Wednesday morning, July 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visitation welcome at residence until 5 p.m.
