Obituary for Sr. Martha "Sr. Mary Alma SMSM" Fluet

Of Waltham, entered eternal rest & peace in the loving arms of her God on Monday morning January 15th, 2018 at Saint Patrick's Manor in Framingham. Sister Martha was 98 years old.

Sister Martha was born on August 8, 1919 in Lawrence; beloved daughter of Arthur Fluet and Emma (Frechette) Fluet.

Sister Martha was of a family of 3 boys, Fr. Phillipe, SM, Fr. Henry, SM and Arthur and 8 girls, Eva Scott,Alma Lettre,Yvonne Filteau,Cecil Fluet,Irene Champagne and Sr. Marcelle, smsm. All of sister's siblings have pre-deceased her.

Sister Martha entered the Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary in Bedford, Massachusetts on February 15, 1938, where she did her Religious training and made her 1st Vows on August 15, 1943.

Sister Martha did Teacher training courses from 1944 to 1945, and received her Mission destination to the Kingdom of formation both in Bedford and Lowell, Massachusetts. By 1960, Sister Martha began more studies at Emmanuel College in Boston and Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee, WI. Sister's next assignment was to go to Peru in America Latina in late 1973 where she worked as a teacher until the middle of 1990. From 1990-2004 Sister Martha gave community service in Lexington, and Waltham and also ministering to her sister, Cecile who was in an assisted living facility.

After cancer surgery in 2004, Sister Martha was missioned to Marillac Assisted Living Residence in Wellesley, Massachusetts. By 2008 after a bad fall, sister moved to St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham for further care.

In recent years, Sister has had several falls and in the end was confined to a wheel chair and was non verbal-communicative.

Sr. Martha is survived by several cherished nieces, nephews as well as many friends and her devoted & loving community of Marist Missionary Sisters.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of the Resurrection in celebration of Sister Martha's Life at the Marist Missionary Sisters Residence, 62 Newton St, Waltham on Friday morning January 19th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Marist Missionary Sisters Lot at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Watertown. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the Funeral Mass in The Marist Sisters Residence on Friday morning from 9:00-10:30 am.

The Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels of WALTHAM will be assisting the Marist Missionary Sisters with arrangements.
