Obituary for James F. "Jimmy" Flanagan

Of Nashua, NH, formerly of Waltham, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday morning September 17th, 2017 in his home at the age of 74. He had very brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Born on January 1, 1943 in Cambridge; son of the late Joseph and Marie T. (Cadiero) Flanagan, Jimmy was raised in Cambridge and had been a Waltham resident for most of his life until moving to Nashua, New Hampshire 15 years ago. He spent the winter months for the past 20 years in Boynton Beach, Florida.

He was passionate about sports and following the New England Patriot's but an absolute diehard Boston Red Sox fan. He loved to watch the games and post the scores and schedules on facebook.

Jimmy was simply a great guy; who lived and loved life to the fullest. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed being around family & friends. He was devoted not only to his family but to the many people he built relationships with over a 30 year period of time being a Friend of Bill W. He was proud of what he had overcome and was willing to help anyone in need at anytime.

He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him throughout his life.

Jimmy is survived by the love of his life; his beloved wife for 38 years Diane (Cocco) Flanagan, his loving son Robert Cossette and his wife Wendy of Everett, his cherished grandchildren Corey, Taylor and Kelsey, his devoted siblings Edna Hannon of Haverhill, Patricia Parker and her husband Dentin of Texas, Theresa Stone and her husband George of Florida, Kevin Flanagan of Florida, Dolly Hight and her husband David of Lynn, Maureen Kenney and her husband George of Texas and Joanne Driscoll and her husband Jack of Malden, and his "favorite" sister-in-law Carol Quintiliani of Norwood and brother-in-law Selwyn R.
