Obituary for Leo Thomas Kokidko

Leo Thomas Kokidko

Of Waltham, passed away, Tuesday evening, August 8, 2017 at the Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham. He was 93.

Born and raised in Waltham to the late Fred and Margaret (Scuik) Kokidko, he was a lifetime resident of Waltham

Leo served honorably as a Gunner's Mate in the United States Navy. He was aboard the USS Wisconsin during World War II. He was a member of the USS Wisconsin Association.

Mr. Kokidko worked as a maintenance man for the Waltham Housing Authority until retiring in 1962. He also volunteered for 32 years as a Waltham Auxiliary Police officer.

A longtime member of Our Lady Comforter Afflicted Church in Waltham, he served as an usher for 40 years and worked BINGO for 27 years.

In his spare time, Leo enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and gardening. He coached little league, loved football, and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves. He also liked to take trips to Foxwoods.

He was the beloved husband of the late Claire (Deneault) Kokidko, loving father of the late Walter Kokidko, and brother of the late John, Walter "Budjo", George, and Al Kokidko.

He is survived by his devoted daughters Linda Keefe and her husband Robert of Bedford, NH, Gail Fulton and her husband Rick of Nashua, NH, and Ruth Ann Kotosky and her husband Richard of Westborough, his loving son Edward Kokidko of North Carolina, his sisters Stella and Olga Kokidko of Waltham, Anne Doucette of Waltham, and Margaret Sundin of Virginia and his daughter-in-law Hady Kokidko of Indiana. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Leo's life at the Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church 920 Trapelo Rd., Waltham, Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons, 773 Moody St., Waltham, Saturday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
