Obituary for Marjorie "Margie" Metcalf (Metcalf)

Marjorie "Margie" Metcalf (Metcalf)
Of Watertown formerly Waltham passed away Sunday afternoon, February 19, 2017 at her home. She was 82.

Born and raised on the Metcalf family farm in Saugus to the late Ellery E. and Fannie S. (Lewis) Metcalf, she was a longtime resident of Saugus until she settled in Waltham, where she lived most of her adult life. Marjorie was a Saugus High School graduate and earned her degree in Library Science from Simmons College in Boston.

Ms. Metcalf worked as a Laboratory Technician at Tufts for several years and was employed by W.R. Grace in Cambridge as the Head Librarian for over 25 years.

In her spare time, Marjorie enjoyed Reading, solving diagramless crosswords, crocheting and knitting. Much of her knitting was done for charity to comfort those with terminal illnesses. She also enjoyed vacationing with her sister in their home on Thompson Lake in Maine and following all of the local sports teams especially the Red Sox.

She was the beloved wife of the late Franz Browne and sister of the late Donald E. Metcalf and Frances M. Faust.

She is survived by her loving sister Eleanor M. Palmer and her husband Gordon of Bridgeton, Maine and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service in celebration of Marjorie's life at the Weston United Methodist Church, 377 North Ave, Weston, MA, Saturday at 1 p.m. For guestbook please visit www.BrascoFuneralHome.com.
