Obituary for Maria G Filoso (Minichiello)

Of Brooksby Village in Peabody, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening October 18th, 2016 with loving family by her side in her residence at the age of 108.

Born on July 12, 1908 in Melito, Italy; daughter of the late Antonio and Rosalina (Coppozzi) Minichiello, Maria immigrated to the United States as a young girl and resided with her family in East Boston before moving to Somerville and then to Waltham from 1957 to 2003. After leaving Waltham 13 years ago Maria moved into the Brooksby Village Community in Peabody.

As a young woman Maria was employed as a Seamstress with the B.F. Goodrich Corporation of Watertown. While at work for B.F. Goodrich Maria met her husband Domenic.

Throughout her long and fruitful life, Maria was devoted to her faith and been a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady Comforter Afflicted Parish Community for years. She was a member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis and the John M. Sullivan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10332, Ladies Auxiliary in Waltham.

Her greatest passion in life was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Beloved wife of the late Domenic Filoso and loving mother of the late Andrew C. Filoso and his wife the late Kay Filoso.

Maria is survived by her devoted & loving son Dr. Anthony M. Filoso and his wife Donna (Sennett) Filoso of Marblehead, her cherished grandchildren Marla Filoso of Weymouth, Andrea Filoso Perry and her husband Brian Perry of NC and Amanda Schreyer and her husband Stan Schreyer of Salem, her adoring great granddaughter Arden Schreyer, and dear sister of Elizabeth “Betty” Doucette of AZ.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Maria’s Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Saturday afternoon Oct. 29th at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel on Saturday morning prior to the Funeral Service from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.
