Of West Newton, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening September 28th, 2016 surrounded by her loving at home in her 102nd year.

Born on April 21, 1914 in Calabria, Italy; daughter of the late Andrea Marchione and Carolina (Caruso) Marchione, Caterina immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1968 and resided in Newton for the rest of her life.

Family was the central focus of her life. She loved to entertain, have people over for gatherings and make sure that everyone was fed. She loved to cook and make food for everyone. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and found great enjoyment in life tending to her garden.

Caterina was a woman of strong faith. She was an active and devoted member of Saint Bernard’s Parish Community in Newton.

Beloved wife to the late Michele Bonadio.

She is the loving & devoted mother of Pietro Bonadio and his wife Maria of Australia, Anthony Bonadio and his wife Cristina of Waltham, Maria Nicolazzo and her late husband Michelangelo of West Newton, Franco Bonadio and his wife Nadia of West Newton, and Vincenza Villella and her husband Luigi of Italy. In addition she is survived by 15 cherished grandchildren, 33 adoring great grandchildren, a precious great great grandson and many nieces & nephews from around the world.

She was predeceased by her seven brothers & sisters.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Caterina’s Life from the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Monday morning Oct. 3rd at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Bernard’s Church, 1523 Washington Street, West Newton at 10:00 a.m. Committal ceremonies will follow at Calvary Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Sunday Oct. 2nd from 2 – 6 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.
