Of Waltham, peacefully entered eternal life in the loving arms of her God on Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley.
Sister Mary Hager was born in Folsom, PA in a family of 2 boys and 2 girls. Their parents were Joseph Hager and Elizabeth (Young) Hager.
Sister Mary entered the Society of Mary, (Marist Missionary Sisters) in Bedford, MA on July 31, 1948. Sister made profession on February 2, 1951 and gave community service for several years before going on her first Missionary experience. She spent several years as Directress of Postulants and also in the accounting office before leaving for Samoa in September of 1965, staying until 1967. Sister returned to the States in 1968 giving service as accountant once again until she became a student from 1970-1974.
From 1977-1979 Sister worked in Papua, New Guinea in the secretariat of Xavier Institute. Sister moved on to Indonesia in 1979 exploring mission needs there. Once again in 1984, Sister returned to the States, to give community service. Sister Mary moved to Naples, Florida in 1993 and worked in a Care Center for the elderly doing promotional work. She returned North in 1998 and helped in various needed positions. Sister Mary moved to Rocky Creek, Florida, (Tampa area) a Retirement Village in 202-2006 until she returned to Waltham, MA due to her health needs. Sister Mary’s health necessitated going to Bethany Health Care in Framingham, MA in 2013 before moving into Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley, MA in 2014.
Sister is survived by several cherished nephews, a niece, many dear friends as well as her loving & devoted Community of Marist Missionary Sisters.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of the Resurrection in celebration of Sister Mary Hagar's Life at the Marist Missionary Sisters Residence, 62 Newton St, Waltham on Tuesday morning May 31st at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Marist Missionary Sisters Lot at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Watertown. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the Funeral Mass in the Marist Missionary Sisters Residence from 8:30am-10:00am.

The Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels of WALTHAM will be assisting the Marist Missionary Sisters with arrangements.
