Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Friday evening April 29th, 2016 at the age of 91.

Born on August 18, 1924 in Petseri, Estonia; daughter of the late Peter and Maria (Nelk) Erick. She lived for several years in Garmish, Germany and Somerville, Massachusetts before moving to Waltham over 60 years ago.

Beloved wife of the late (Ret.) Boston Police Officer Edward J. Rizzo, she is survived by her loving & devoted daughter Donna M. Reardon and her husband Michael of Londonderry, New Hampshire, and her son-in law Robert Carr of Chelmsford. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren Sean, Brian, and Meghan Reardon, Ryan and Kenneth Carr.

The most important aspect of her life was her family as a devoted & loving wife, mother & grandmother.

She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Laurie Carr and her brother Erik Erick.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 325 Trapelo Road, BELMONT on Thursday morning May 5th at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Leida’s Life in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 920 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home in BELMONT on Wednesday May 4th from 4 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
