Of Waltham, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 88 years old.
Joe Was born March 19, 1927 in Cheticamp, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He immigrated to Waltham in 1962 with his wife, Norma, and four children, where he has been a resident ever since.
He worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 103.
Joe was honored as a National Heritage Fellow for his Cape Breton Fiddle Music. He traveled the world doing what he loved most (besides his family), playing the fiddle. Joe was always ready to pick up the fiddle and could liven up any room with his music.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Norma, his six children Ricky Cormier of Waltham, Denise Cormier of Waltham, Lonny Cormier and his wife Joan Cerrone of Lowell, Michele Cormier and her partner John Lentz of Woburn, Alan Cormier of San Francisco, CA, and Andy Cormier and his wife Jennifer Morgan of Waltham, and his cherished grand children Katie and Gina Biondo of Brighton, Sophie and Harry Cormier of Belmont, and Jayden Morgan of Waltham. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Joe's life at Saint Mary's Church, 145 School St., Waltham, Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
