Of Waltham, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2015 at the Newton -Wellesley Hospital. She was 82.
Born and raised in Atina, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Lucy (Mattasa) Nardone, she moved to Waltham when she was 16 and has been a resident ever since. When Maria was a young woman she worked for the Moody Dress Co. in Waltham as a seamstress.
Maria will be remembered as a loving and generous woman who put other's needs above her own and asking nothing in return. She was a devout Catholic and Sacred Heart Church was very important to her. Above all else, she loved being with her family, especially her 7 cherished grandchildren.
Maria was an excellent cook. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and taught all of her children the art of Italian cooking. She was a member of the Waltham Sons of Italy Dante Alighieri Women's Lodge 648.
She was the beloved wife of 69 years of the late Gregorio Riscolo who passed away in 2008.
She is survived by her loving children Anthony Riscolo and his wife Paula (Mazzarini) of Waltham, Joseph Riscolo of Waltham, and Annmarie Huff and her husband John of Waltham, her sister Deila Pagnani of Waltham, brother Marco Nardone of Waltham, and her cherished grandchildren Lisa, Gregory, Samantha, Victoria, Alex, Jessica, and Joey. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Maria's life at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River St., Waltham, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
