Of Fitchburg formerly of Waltham passed away peacefully, Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Golden Living Center of Fitchburg. He was 85.
Born and raised in Cambridge to the late Anthony and Agnes (Knox) Silva, he moved with his family to Waltham in 1960 where he resided until moving to Fitchburg 5 years ago.
Mr. Silva enlisted in the United States Navy in July of 1951 and served as a Radio Operator during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1956. He was a member of the Waltham Veterans of Foreign War John M. Sullivan Post 10334.
Mr. Silva worked for the city of Waltham Water Department as a truck driver for many years.
In his spare time Donald enjoyed listening to Music, Socializing with friends, and walking his dogs, most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was the loving husband of the late Anita (Palmieri) Silva and brother of the late Robert and William Silva and uncle of the late David Silva.
He is survived by his loving children Joseph Silva and his wife Donna (DiTommaso) of Leominster, Michael Silva and his wife Nancy (Fonseca) of Waltham, and Patricia Lenihan and her husband Michael of Lunenburg, his brothers Edward Silva of Malden, Arthur Silva of Arlington, Henry Silva of Billerica, and John Silva of Tilton, NH, his sister Delores Belinski of Billerica, and his cherished grandchildren Joseph Silva of Nashua, NH, Andrea Silva of Worcester, Jason Silva of Manchester, NH, Kristen Treacey of Chelmsford, Stacey Kerns of Chelmsford, Meagan Toberos of Lunenburg, and Melissa Lenihan of Fitchburg. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Tuesday, July 7, at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Donald's life at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted church, 920 Trapelo Rd., Waltham, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery.
