Of Auburndale, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning February 19th, 2015 at the Lasell House in Lasell Village Newton after a long illness at the age of 83.

Born on December 19, 1931 in Calabria, Italy; daughter of the late Gennaro and Giovanna Nicolazzo, Patsy immigrated to the United States in 1947 at the age of 16 and has been a resident of Newton ever since.

A graduate of Newton High School with the Class of 1951, Patsy worked as a young woman as a Seamstress at Moody Dress Company then the Puritan Dress Company in Waltham.

In 1972, Patsy and her husband purchased the Newton Highlands Liquor Mart in Newton, where she operated the business with her husband for 25 years until her retirement in 1997. She took great pride in providing the finest wine at her store.

Patsy was a co-founder of the Nonantum Woman’s Club in Newton. She was the benefactor to numerous local charities and community organizations as well as Sacred Heart Parish community in Waltham.

Family was the most important aspect of her life, she loved helping raise her grandchildren and being a significant part of their lives.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years Domenic Mercuri, her devoted & loving children Francesco Mercuri and his fiancee’ Josephine Antonellis of Newton and Maria Mercuri Consigli and her husband David of Newton, and her cherished grandchildren, Domenic “Nick”, Taylor and Brooke Mercuri, Sara & Catherine Consigli. In addition she is survived by many nieces, nephews & cousins.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapel, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Saturday morning Feb. 28th at 8:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Pasqualina’s Life at Saint Bernard’s Church, 1529 Washington Street, West Newton at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday Feb. 27th from 3 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Pasqualina’s memory to the Auburndale Community Charitable Foundation, c/o The Village Bank, 307 Auburn St, Auburndale, MA 02466.
