Of Marshfield, passed away Friday morning September 26th, 2014in the Blaire House of Worcester after a long illness at the age of 67.
Born on March 24, 1947 in Norwood; son of the late William and Mary (Jones) Carter and step-son of Helen Janice-Carter, Greg was raised in North Abington and was a resident of Marshfield for many years.
A graduate of King Philips Regional High School with the Class of 1966, Greg was employed as a tradesman throughout his life.
Greg was a decorated United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart, the Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal First Class Unit Citation Badge, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation Badge, and the Vietnam Service Medal with Four Bronze Stars.
He was an active and devoted member of the Disabled American Veterans Organizations of Massachusetts and the Marshfield Lodge of Elks (B.P.O.E.) #2494.
In his spare time he enjoyed playing pool,fishing, and camping.
He is survived by his beloved children Corrina Carter of North Attleboro and Gregory Carter Jr. of Wareham, his dear brothers Stephen Carter of Braintree and John Carter of North Fort Myers, Florida, and his loving & devoted companion Janet McGrath of Marshfield. In addition he is survived by 3 grandsons, a granddaughter, a niece and two nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Thursday evening Oct. 2nd from 6 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
A Graveside Funeral Service with United States Army Military Honors in celebration of Greg’s Life will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans National Cemetery in Bourne on Friday morning Oct. 3rd at 10:30 a.m.
