Obituary for Peter T. Kalemba

Peter  T.   Kalemba
Of Roxbury, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon September 19th, 2014 at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston at the age of 58.

Peter Timothy Wabbi Kalemba was born August 26, 1956 at Namirembe Hospital in Kampala Uganda. He is the second born of six boys, namely Moses Kalemba, Peter Kalemba, Paul Kalemba, Andrew Kalemba (RIP), Dan Kalemba and Michael Kalemba.

He began his formal education at Mmengo Primary School but when the family relocated to Entebbe he joined St. Theresa Primary School in Entebbe Uganda and completed his primary education there in 1969. In 1970 he joined King’s College Budo for 4 years (Senior 1 through Senior 4). He was a formidable swimmer at King’s College Budo and along with his brother Paulo, Kato and Wasswa Kajubi and Daudi Nabeta (RIP) they formed the core of the swimming team that set numerous records at Budo that still stand to date.

After leaving Budo he attended Aga Khan Senior Secondary School in Kampala from where he moved on to Makerere University where he graduated with a Bachelor in Commerce degree in 1979. After leaving Makerere he worked for Bank of Uganda for some time before moving on to continue his education at the University of Scotland in Glasgow. He graduated from there in 1987 with a Masters in Economics degree after which he moved to the USA. Since moving to the USA he worked in various capacities (mostly self-employed) in the Boston and Washington DC areas.

At the time of his passing Peter was living in Boston but was no longer working after being diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Peter is survived by his brothers Moses and his wife Theo, Paul, Dan, Michael and his wife Joan and his children Michael Bazanye, Rachel Nalwoga Makika and her husband Joshua Makika and one grandchild Elieza Mukwana Makika and the mother of his children Margaret Nabunya.

Peter shall be laid to rest in Kijjabijjo, Kyadondo Uganda.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Peter's Life will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Saturday Sept. 27th at 4:00 p.m. Visiting Hours will be held in the Chapel from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
