Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning September 9, 2014 surrounded by his loving daughters in his home at the age of 76.
Born on May 4, 1938 in Juncos, Puerto Rico; son of the late Juan Diaz and Eugenia Velez, Juan was raised in Puerto Rico and has been a Waltham resident for the past 35 years.
He was employed in the Maintenance Division for the Raytheon Corporation in Waltham for many years and a School Bus Driver for the Waltham School District for several years.
He cherished his family and loved spending time with all of them especially his grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, watching the news, collecting coins and jewelery.
Juan was the devoted and loving caretaker for his beloved late wife Onelia Rivera-Santiago.
He is survived by his loving daughters Sonia N. Cruz of Milford, Janet Diaz of Waltham, Ilsa M. Santiago of Waltham and Leslie Santiago of Milford, his cherished grandchildren Hector Cruz Jr., Cynthia Cruz, Vanessa Santiago, Alyssa Santiago, Steven D. Santiago, Richard M. Santiago, Andrew Cruz, Christian J. Santiago, Enrique X. Esquivel, and Sophia L. Esquivel, and his great grandchildren Aidan M. Bermudez, Julian L. Cruz, Jordyn Dion Allen-Robinson, Preston L. Cruz and Isaac I. Bermudez. In addition he is survived by 4 sisters, 3 brothers, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Friday morning Sept. 12th at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Juan’s Life at Saint Mary’s Church, 145 School St., Waltham at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial on Thursday Sept. 11th from 4 - 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
