Of West Newton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, early Thursday morning, September 4, 2014, at her home. She was 80.
Born and raised in Charlestown to the late William and Alexandria (Tracy) Gallagher. She was a graduate of Julie Billiard Catholic High School in Charlestown. Alice has been a resident of West Newton for many years.
She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman who loved her faith, family and friends. She cherished every moment spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Alice was a devout Catholic and was a very active member of Saint Bernard's Church in West Newton. In her spare time Alice enjoyed walking, going to garage sales, staying active, and vacationing at Hampton Beach and Cape Cod.
She is survived by her loving husband Robert F. McDonald, Sr., her devoted children Robert F. McDonald, Jr. and his wife Judy (Quinlan) of Milford, Paul McDonald and his wife Elizabeth (McNamara) of Norwood, Michael McDonald and his wife Gail (Ellis) of Newton, William McDonald and his wife Toni (Whitson) of Newton, and Daniel McDonald and his wife Marina (Pavlotsky) of Walpole, her siblings Joseph Gallagher of Florida, Joan Duncan of Burlington, William Gallagher of Billerica, Marilyn Martell of Billerica, James Gallagher of Billerica, and Patrick Gallagher of Bedford, and her cherished grandchildren Victoria, Amanda, Caroline, McCala, Erin, Emily, Grace, Abigail, Madeleine, and Caden. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Paul McGrath, and Robert and John Gallagher.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., Waltham, Monday at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard's Church, 1529 Washington St., Newton at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
