Of Waltham, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning June11th, 2014 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston at the age 65.
Born on November 11, 1948 in Waltham; son of the late Gaetano and Giovanina (Rando) Ferlazzo; Sal was a lifelong resident of Waltham.
A graduate of Waltham Vocational High School in 1967, Sal furthered his education at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.
He was first employed as an Engineer with Millipore Corporation in Bedford and has been Engineer & Plant Manager for Olympic Systems in Winchester for the past 30 years.
To Sal, his family and friends were the most important aspect of his life, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a gentle, kind, loving and wonderful man who would do anything for others. Sal enjoyed spending time with family and friends going on day trips traveling to Scituate and all over. He was a passionate and diehard New England Patriot's Fan.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Marilyn (Tehan) Ferlazzo, his loving & devoted children Joanna M. Harkin and her husband Chuck of Woburn and Jeff Ferlazzo and his wife Elizabeth of Waltham, his cherished grandsons Brendan Michael Harkin and Domenic Salvatore Ferlazzo, and his brother Bartholomeo "Benny" Ferlazzo and his wife Lidia of Waltham. In addition he is survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Monday morning June 16th at 8:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Salvatore’s Life at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 920 Trapelo Rd., Waltham at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Watertown. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Sunday June 15th from 2 – 6 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking.
