Of California, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 at the age of 63.
Born in Waltham on November 4, 1950; beloved son of the late Allessandro (Sam) and Frances (DiMurro) Girolamo, Bill was a 1968 graduate of St. Mary’s High School.
He received his B.A. in English from Tufts University and his Master of Geology degree from Boston College. Bill moved to California in 1987 where he furthered his geology career. His expertise focused on assessment and remediation in the petroleum industry throughout California and Australia. He developed strong relationships with clients and regulators and was a valued mentor to younger staff members. Bill also started his own corporation to provide geologic and environmental consulting and professional writing services. In his spare time he was a photographer, political blogger, published writer, and motorcycle enthusiast.
Bill also enjoyed working on his jeep, relaxing with his cats, and exploring the natural beauty of California and the American Southwest with his friends.
He is survived by his loving sister Rosanne Pecci, brother Al Girolamo and his wife Rosemarie, sister Marie Clement and her husband Tom, seven nieces and nephews, and 14 great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many lifelong friends in both Massachusetts and California. He will be deeply missed.
