Of Waltham died Wednesday evening, February 12, 2014 at his home; He was93.
Born, December 2, 1920 to the late Domenic and Lucia (Cannivino) Palumbo, he was a lifelong resident of Waltham.
Mr. Palumbo served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He served as a sergeant and received the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal, the European African Middle eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was a longtime member of the V.F.W. Sullivan Post 10334 of Waltham.
He was a member of the Waltham Lodge of Moose #1018.
Arthur founded the A. E. Palumbo Sporting Goods Store in Waltham in 1952, which he owned and operated for over 50 years.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dorina A. (Therrien) Palumbo and brother of the late Augustine Palumbo, Mary Palumbo, Alfred Palumbo, and Gilda Mitten.
He is survived by his loving son Arthur E. Palumbo, Jr. of Waltham, his brother Gene Palumbo of Newburyport, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Tuesday, February 18, at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Arthur's life at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River St., at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 3-7 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
